0957 – Renaming Rich Hill Ballpark

ORDINANCE 957 

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE NAMING OF THE RICH HILL BALLPARK AS THE “VIETNAM VETERAN MEMORIAL PARKAND DEDICATING SAID BALLPARK TO THEIR MEMORY

WHEREAS, it is the wish of the City of Rich Hill to never forget the great sacrifice made by all of those people from our community who served during a very difficult period of time, the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, the Rich Hill Baseball Association has expressed their desire to name the American Legion Ballpark in memory of those who lost their lives in the line of duty during theVietnam War.

THEREFORE, according to the desires of the Rich Hill Baseball Association and the people of Rich Hill, the City of Rich Hill does hereby wish to name the American Legion Ballpark the “Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park” in honor of SP/4 Jerry Boyles, LT. Donald Droz, PFC Stephen Fleischer, andSGTTerry Foreman, all of whom were a casualty of the Vietnam War and served our community with pride.  Let us not forget these brave and courageous men.

FURTHER, be it resolved, that the City ofRich Hillwishes to dedicate this ballpark to the memory of these veterans subject to the approval of the American Legion, which owns the ballpark, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
